Default Pre 2002.5 V6 timing chain kit

Gidday, my early V6 has what sounds like a chain rattle on cold start that clears as the engine warms so I'm expecting to do the chain and tensioners sometime soon. Never done it on a Jag but have on several other vehicles and have the FSM to guide me.
I've found a 2001 Lincoln LS V6 chain kit on Rockauto (which is not expensive), and am considering using it for my car. Has anybody done a similar job using Lincoln LS parts? I have found bits of info suggesting it is probably suitable but nothing definitive so I wonder if someone has an answer from experience.
Please note it's for a pre 2002.5 engine, I understand the cars diverged a bit more after that.
Thanks in advance.

How many kilometres on the vehicle?

Are you certain the noise isn't from a component on the accessory drive system? The Duratec V6 is very robust as far as timing chain issues from what I've seen. Remove the serpentine belt to see if the noise is still present before ordering any parts.

That sounds like good advice.
I'm new to the duratec engine so only have knowledge of what other engines sound like with a bad chain and tensioners. Will try your suggestion and report back when I know more.
As far as the commonality with the Lincoln LS is there any knowledge out there of if the parts are likely suitable?
Thanks for the info.

Thanks, that was a very interesting read. Didn't see anything that made me think the LS kit was a silly idea for the early engines at least.

Apologies to the earlier poster, I forgot to mention the car has 169000km, just over 100000 miles. The noise is on cold start and it reduces considerably as the engine warms up. Must admit I'm leaning towards chain and tensioners purely based on a Suzuki V6 that I did the same job on, however the serpentine belt does get mentioned as a source of noise frequently. My assumption would be the belt would make the same noise warm or cold but sounds like it's not too hard to remove and check which will be better than guessing.
Thanks.
