Default Problems with a transmission of a S-Type 2004

Hi friends & connosieurs.
I Own a Jag S-Type 2004 and it´s a beauty but from one year from now , I perceive a problem with the transmission.

When I put it in Drive and have advanced some miles , a sudden kick is perceive from from time to time. Nothing to scandalous but definitelely is percetible and it is not a normal behaviour.

No alarms turns on on the panel control or nothing else happens with the behaviour of this cat but please. Could someone share with me if you have some ideas of what is wrong with this feline.

I don´t whant to go to the Jaguar agency and foun a bill of 3000 dlls. or something if I can arrange by myself.

Thanks a lot.

Wish you well.

Do you get this "kick" when slowing down just before coming to a stop? Or is it during a upshift or downshift?

Greetings Jagus . . . but we need more data of your symptoms and precise circumstances under which they occur before advising possible causes and what to do, which, depending on the lurch or kick, may include . . .
  • first, a/t software update/reflash; not too expensive and will clear all learned (possibly bad) adaptions;
  • replace pan filter, sleeve and all ATF; especially if mileage warrants;
  • a/t valve body rebuild is expensive, but may be final option.
Firstly, are there any other faults, warnings or codes?
Are you saying you have had this issue for 1 year?
Even if so, how long have you had car?
So, did car come with this issue?
Finally, what engine is fitted?

Best wishes,

Ken

Check the trans fluid level - details in the Stickies and be sure to do it right!

Also, it needs changing by now.

I'm with Ken.

Trans fluid change, new filter (which IS the plastic pan). If not the miles, that fluid is 13 years old, and teenagers are problematic at best, oops.

Lots of other "little" things, like the sleeve etc, that have been mentioned, should be checked and rectified as a starting list.
