Default Purchased 2001 S-Type 3.0 a week ago.. 3 questions..

This car is immaculate and I want to keep it.. I got 323.000 km out of my last car.. Question #1 ..Should I be concerned with the timing chain tensioners?.. #2. Can I make the horn honk when I use the remote to lock the car.. now the lights just flash I like the honk.. #3.. Radio reception very poor compared to my last car with basic radio w/antenna .. Thanks for any input..

Welcome to the forum lojo, congrats on the new ride.

#1- No tensioners on the 3.0 only the V8 4.0. What you have to worry about is a small hose located under the lower intake manifold. Very useful information on that found here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ics-faq-52720/
Along with the IMT O-rings (your model looks a bit different) but you will get the idea here:

#2- Not sure about activating the horn on your MY (model year). Possibly more found out in the free JTIS download on the site.

#3- Possibly unhooked antenna wire(?). Is it the factory radio or aftermarket?

#2 does the horn work if you press the button a second time?

Thank you for the reply Rick.. I love this car.. It is the original radio and another thing with it is (possibly not related) is the digital readout goes crazy and flickers and sometimes goes blank.. Where can I look for the antenna wire?.. thanks again.. Larry

Larry,

Possibly could be the radio itself along with the couple of other problems you mention. I am not sure who would be able to diagnose it.

I am unfamiliar with what radio is fitted in the 01 MY but here is one on ebay for $30.00, that is working:
Jaguar Cassette Tape Cass Player Radio s Type 00 01 02 03 9000 NA Premium Stereo | eBay

As a side note, Joyces factory radio has a hick up once in awhile since we have owned it (over 5 years). Once or so quarterly the hours will change to military time all by itself.

Im curious about the radio myself, can u order any regular aftermarket touchscreen nav, cd player to put in or must it be a jaguar one?

Good luck with your car
