Default quarter panel coming undone

Noticed last night the the bottom piece of the right rear quarter panel is loose. It's the piece below the seam behind the RR tire. Most of it is still solid but the leading edge is loose and sticking out about 1cm. No evidence of anything hitting it, the paint is still perfect. Maybe some road debris got it from underneath.

How are these attached? Is there some clips in there holding it together? Are they easy to R&R? I'd hate to take it to the dealership for this.

2003 S-type

Any comments would be appreciated.

If you mean the rear bumper cover(the painted soft plastic bit),then you can remove the inner fender liner and you should see a hard plastic mounting bracket which fixes the soft plastic bumper to the metal body part. Not difficult if there is not too much corrosion in the fasteners.

Yup. In the daylight I see it is actually the bumper.

Is that the liner accessible from the wheel well? Or do you mean to go through the trunk?

Thanks a lot.

You can get all the fasteners from the wheelwell.Just jack your car up,remove the rear wheel, block the car up so it will not drop on you and then remove the fasteners and the inner fender liner.
