Hello,
I recently purchased my 02 Jaguar S-Type and it's stereo constantly mutes at random intervals at random times. Sometimes I go the whole day and it will be fine and others it goes crazy. Fairly certain it's the telephone mute button on the steering wheel or the mute button on the stereo head thats acting up, but I Don't know how to solve the problem. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

 

Are there other problems with steering wheel controls, like the cruise control? Does volume up and down work? First indication that your clock spring is going out. Audio controls were going out one by one, remedied by replacing that clock spring.
