I have searched all over the internet and cant find out if my s type should have a rear ashtray there is a place under the rear outlet vents where I assume it should go but cant find any information

 

Hi,
It is probable that your car was built for a non smoker. The ashtrays are deleted from the specification, and where the front one should be located it becomes a small storage area with a power point.
My car was built to that spec so maybe your is the same.
My wife use the back recess for keeping mint sweets in for any rear seat passengers. She's kind of thoughtful that way

My 2005 S-Type has an ashtray in each of the passenger door armrests, one in the front and two in the back. The place below the rear A/C vents is a small storage area. My wife used to put a small air freshener in there. I reminded her that if she didn't smoke in the car, it wouldn't need one. I have since used a larger one and put it in one of the rear drink holders.
