Default Rear end noise. 2002 S type V6

I have a very loud noise, that appears to be from right rear.
Sounds like mud knobby tires. My mechanic sez NOT wheel bearing and just put new tires on. No joy.

Help appreciated

Check the tyre first and see if you have any stones or a nail in the tread.

A visual observation of a wheel bearing will not show if its worn out.
How did your mechanic check it?

Default Rear Noise

Thanks for the response. I know its not the tire because I put on new tires after the noise appeared. I don't know how the mech checked it but a phone call to a Jag Tech indicates it's most likely an outer wheel bearing. He'll call me when he gets an opening.
