Default Phone call problem

I have paired up my mobile phone and the phone works But when I make a call I can hear the person I called fine but the person at the another end just gets a high pitched screaming noise and cannot hear me above the noise
Any ideas

Bad phone cable / power supply?

I'm guessing you are not using one of the supported phones? (The list is a FAQ.)

The overhead mics in these Bluetooth-equipped cars are cheap and are known to fail. We had to replace the original mic in our 2005 S-Type while the car was still under the 3-year factory warranty. Before replacing your mic, remove it, pull the electrical connection, clean it with electrical contact cleaner, and see if that makes any difference....

Very unlikely but you could get its build info from jag and find out.

In which case, even less likely.

Ask your mother-in-law to step out of your car before placing your call (that's what I do).
