Hello everyone! Glad to start this thread and discuss the entire rear suspension. I’d like to go over some suspension questions and hear your opinions and experiences. I have a 2000 S-Type V6 3.0. I want to completely replace the rear suspension. I plan to replace the rear sway bar, the rear lower control arm, the rear upper control arm, and the sway bar link. That’s a total of four suspension components, plus the shock absorber. But there’s one catch. I noticed that the front shock absorbers are equipped with ADS—the Adaptive Damping System—and I can clearly see that there are wires and a connector going to each strut. My question: what kind of shock absorbers do we have in the rear? Is there ADS in the rear? The thing is, the price difference is huge. Without ADS—90–150 Canadian dollars, and with ADS—350! I’m worried that if I install them without ADS, an error might appear on the onboard computer. Please advise what to buy for the rear? Does anyone know how ADS works? We don’t have a suspension button; does it make sense that it operates based on speed?
I also noticed that the rear suspension has a subframe cushion. To replace them, you have to remove the subframe, which is expensive. Should I leave the old cushions in place if I’m planning to do a complete overhaul of the rear suspension? I haven’t been able to find the part number for the subframe cushion or even see what it looks like.

I doubt you will be able to get hold of any subframe bushes from Jaguar. You might be able to get some listed for a Ford Lincoln LS, which will probably be identical. I need some too, but I am going to cast my own from polyurethane.
With regard to your rear end setup, check the subframe hasn’t turned to cheese with corrosion before you do the suspension. They are made from thin, poorly rust-proofed steel. On my 2000 3.0 V6, the subframe fell to pieces while driving! I replaced it with a later one from a dry state (but I had to seriously modify the car to make it fit. DO NOT try this, or you WILL regret it. Get the correct one from a Lincoln or Jag, if you have to replace yours). That was before I realised I could have got the right one from a Lincoln LS (a decent early Jag one was impossible to find).
Also, don’t forget to replace the rear antiroll bar mounting bushes, while you are at it.
Good luck.
Looking good but unless the sway bar has rusted badly I would not replace that.
The pictures you posted are the most common worn out parts. The rear sway bar end links and the rear toe bars.

It's not that it's rusted. I replaced it just 9,000 km ago, and it's already broken. It's loose and doesn't hold its tension.

I didn't know they were there. I'm looking at the rear suspension diagram, trying to find them. Google showed me this:
They look very similar to the front stabilizer bushings.

Check here for part numbers related to your VIN Jaguar Parts
This ebay listing shows the type of subframe from an early model. S-type Subframe
But the bushes don’t look like the ones you pictured above.

No I miss understood what you replaced. You did not replace the sway bar only the sway bar bushings, the sway bar end links and the rear toe bars. All of these are wear items and at this late date are expected to be worn.
Any luck finding the rear sub-frame bushings? They have been hard to find for a while.
