Default Removing @#$! Vacuum Lines

I am pulling the intake manifold to replace the spark plugs, and I am having the damn hardest time removing the brake booster vacuum pipe from the back of the manifold and the purge valve vacuum pipe from the throttle body.

They are loose and the pipes can swivel, but it seems that no amount of force is removing them. I am afraid to break them. Is there a retaining mechanism at the fitting or something? A compression clip or something?

Thanks

I went to AllData (yes, I bought a subscription), and sure enough, it is a quick-release (Ha Ha!) compression fitting.

Thank you very much Jaguar for not putting that in the JTIS manual.
I am betting that the tech writers at Jaguar don't do the actual service procedures, they just write about it. F'ing losers!

Welp I feel your pain on that quick release. Several years ago I had the same problem. With Brutals help I made it through the dilema.

Now what you don't want to hear. When I reassembled Joyces Jag, I took it for a drive and sure enough a new problem "popped" up. When coming to a stop the car felt like I was getting rear ended. I had a good feeling what was wrong.

I screwed up that exact quick release that you are talking about, thankfully the local Jag dealer had one in stock, and all I had to do is remove the intake again and replace the brass quick release in the manifold.
