If you've driven in the US (and to a lesser degree the remainder of N.Am) you'd see why. The low skill level of drivers and unbelievably foolish driving habits is frightening.


Most North Americans would fail a British or European driving test or would have their permits taken away in short order.

 

I've driven in the USA quite a bit over a lot of years and they didn't strike me as any worse than drivers here and certainly not nearly 4 times as bad.

Mostly the US (lanes of the) roads are considerably wider. Roads hardly ever as full. Generally the cars were not moving so fast as here, either, though often well above the posted speed limit (happens here too).
