Question S Type Adaptive Suspension Upgrade

Hi

I have recently upgraded my 2003 facelift S Type with the cats suspension system. I have changed the shocks and fitted all sensors and rear module and all voltages from sensors are ok. I cannot proggramme the module as the car cannot see the adaptive suspension module that is fitted.
Can anyone help in adding this module to my car in order that I can use the cats system

Regards

Atonyrich

I think you will need a dealer to properly program the car. CATS was an option.

Didn't Brutal just mention how to disable it? Have a look at his recent posts.

He did? I can't find it. Do you know where he posted it? How does the damned thing work? Can I put in some new shocks and springs and not have it throw a CEL?

More likely they don't know how to get IDS to do it!

Jeff - thanks. That's the one

Just new to the forums.

Was wondering if any progress was made regarding this, as I am considering doing a similar mod. I would directly PM the OP, but for some reason that function is currently disabled on my browser.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

John

Default Adaptive Upgrade

I have tried a dealer who has given it his dest shot without sucess. You require an IDS machine that has the engineering function enabled to reprogramme the VID block with the necessary information. This is restricted to factory staff so at present I cannot proceed.Any further help glady welcome and appreciated.

Is CATS an option that can be added later (as an upgrade, post-delivery)? If so, you know it can be configured.

You've added the yaw etc sensors?

I spoke to a jaguar mechanic today, though we were talking about different stuff....he did seem to indicate that their were different qualifications for mechanics depending on which courses they had taken. With those qualifications came access to different passcodes that allowed them to reprogram different aspects of the in-car computer systems.

If I were to extrapolate from there, I would believe that you might just be limited by the qualifications of the mechanics you have been dealing with. It might be worth your while to seek out a more "senior" mechanic who might have greater access to the control systems....

Or, I could be completely out to lunch.

I did touch base on the topic of installing the CATs into my s-type, non-r. However the mechanic suggested that I might get what I wanted from installing variable rate coil springs instead, saving me the headache of finding parts, installing more components and then wishing the computer would allow it to be integrated. He seemed both competent as well as not seeking the biggest profit for himself (as the VRC springs would be less expensive), so I am inclined to trust him at this time.

Hope this gives you some food for thought

John
