Default S Type with Cold Air but No Heat

While I gave my newly purchased S Type a strong once over before purchase, including checking that the AC worked, given that it was over 80 degrees at the time, I did not check to ensure the heater works.

Now on my drive in this morning I notice that there is ZERO heat coming from my Jag, ice cold.

My first thought was the heater core might be blocked off however I definitely notice a strong odor - that I normally would not think was coolant - coming from the vents. It smells more chemical in nature.

I did a search and saw posts on the CCM and DCCV but they appear to indicate no AC, which I have and the driver side only. I get no heat at all driver or passenger side.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? It was a cold drive in today

If the 4.0 is the same as the 3.0, at the front of the car by the lower edge of the radiator you'll find the DCCV. With the car up to temperature see which, if any, of the pipes running to and from this valve get hot when you have the climate set to Hi.

The valve default is open, but it can stick closed, meaning no hot water going to the matrix.

Agreed, I found Geoff and his website at ClimateControl to be most helpful.

Yopu have the early S Type. So if the coolant is low you will have no heat. What is the coolant level?

Have you bled the system using the special bleed hose up by the brake booster? Only the early cars have that.
