For drifting it seems to me that a car with a manual transmission would be much better, if you can find one. You could control the car better and you wouldn't have to deal with the automatic transmission which has a mind of it's own. If you have a V6 S Type with an auto, you could switch it to a manual. Probably a big job. You would need manual transmission, clutch assembly, and probably the computer from the host car.

When I inquired about converting my car to a manual the overwhelming opinion was that mating the electronics would be an insurmountable problem. Though any good computer programmer worth their DOS should relish the challenge.

. . . and 2yrs ago, the going rate for custom programming of this scope of work (Sydney, July '15) was AU$120 per hr. Strangely, few of us car nuts seem anxious to part with $1,000 per day. LOL.

Cheers,

Ken

Unusual car + wanting specialist (perhaps first time) programming. Not going to be cheap.

To save money find another way, whether that's a different car or whatever.

If you could find a running S type with a manual transmission it would be a lot easier. If you were going to convert an automatic to a manual you'd need a host car that has everything you need, Trans and clutch, pedal, slave cylinder, console, and computer, etc. Then you don't have to worry about reprogramming a computer for an automatic. I think that the computer located in the left side of the trunk would be what you need, but double check. Of course if you already have the car I'd try it out first to see if it works good enough as is.
