Default S type engine swap

Hello everyone
hopefully your day has gone better than mine
while stopped at a red traffic light This morning
Some thought it would be fine to keep driving
And plowed in to the back of my type r
Unfortunately it is now around one meter shorter
So now only have the s type 4.2 N_A which is the wife's car

My question is it possible or has it been done by any one on this forum

I have located a s type se 4.2 body no engine or transmission
just a rolling body
Is it possible to swap everything from my damaged type r
To another body
OR IS IT GOING TO OPEN A CAN OF WORMS
Insurance company have agreed to pay out less 2.5 k
and I keep the car

Very interested in what people think
Thanking you

You need to swap everything including:
The ECU.
The dashboard that is linked for life to the specific ECU in the car.
The suspension.
The brakes.
Also you may well need all the linked control units throughout the car. Some may be re-programed to work using the Jaguar software, but others are tied to the specific ECU.
You may well find that some of the wireing and connectors are not the same.

The car you are going to fit this all on may well need to be the same model year as the donor STR car. This is the 10th digit in the VIN number.

Also the STR's have a different body shell to the non-supercharged cars, so some things may not fit.
This is digit 6 and 7 in the VIN number. It is 03 on the STR's.

In short it is a massive job with a good chance that it will not work 100%. as you may not get all the modules to talk to eachother.

The STR shell/chassis is also stronger in construction than the N/A.

Sorry to hear about it and to add to your woes - but no, not viable to do such a swap.

Additionally, assuming that you are successful in your "transplant operation," the VIN of the recipient car will always identify it as an "ersatz" STR, with an attendant decrease in value taking place if you ever go to sell the car...

Emissions testing (if required) and registration may be a headache, too. At my local emissions testing station, the guy connects a reader to the OBD port and it downloads the VIN to the test equipment. He also scans the VIN from the label by the door and the metal tag at the windshield base. If the numbers don't match, expect a bureaucratic nightmare trying to sort it all out.
