Default S-type passenger seat travel

Hi all, I have a 2008 s-type and the passenger seat does not go back as far as the driver seat. I'm 6-5 and have no problem in driver seat but can't even fit in the passenger seat. Has anyone else noticed this or know if the travel can be adjusted? Thanks, Pete

I was a OEM seating design engineer for many yrs. This is a very common thing.

Just checked my 03 S-type and it appears they both go rearward the same distance.

Hi, thanks for the info. Doesnt make sense to me why they would limit seat travel. The person in the passenger seat could always adjust as needed. Dealer thought driver seat went back more because of steering wheel.

On my 06 str, passenger goes back a bit further too. I noticed it a couple years ago the first time i rode there with friend driving. I am 6ft 5 also and it sure was nice. I find if i lower the seat all the way and slide the cusion all the way back the driver seat is good for me

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering why other's passenger seats goes back and mine doesn't. I had my wife drive home after a party and it was awfully uncomfortable. Not good to take on long trip if you are going to split driving duties.

Maybe move the seat full forward and check the rails and surrounding area. My g daughter dropped s small plstic figure once and it got lodged in the rail. It got tore up but a small piece was jammed at the end causing it not to fully move back. It was hard to find

My X-type had the passengers seat jammed and it turned out to be hard sweets (a bunch of small round Mints) that must have been spilled down beside the console that eventually found their way into the track runners.
Joys of buying a second hand vehicle...you inherit someone else's sins.

Once cleared I then found the runners were unusually stiff and needed some fresh grease on the nylon rails.
All good now.
