What type/brand converter do you recommend using for the stock head unit to aftermarket amp, I have the Nav head unit in my X-Type?

Which subs did you order to replace the factory ones?
small company in new york called ULTRA. They make some pretty efficient 8 inch woofers. No bling involved, simply black. Hopefully i can get these uploaded understand i took photos of the removal process so far. Next thing to do is the hookup, and final "subjective" listening tests. I competed for quite some time in IASCA. Even did sound judging for a few years. I will be evaluating the performance of the subwoofers from stock to aftermarket, by adding nothing more then larger speakers.

My all time favorite ones were called AUDIO-LINK. I know some other companies make them, and honestly PAC is the most widely available ones.

Now when you start talking about amplifiying the fronts and rears and subs all together, you might want to look into the OEM integration units. Companies such as Audiocontrol, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio, JBL all make them, as well as a few more.

I have had the pleasure of working with both the Audiocontrol units, and the Rockford Units. I have yet to use the Bit-One processor , but word from installers around the country is this is an excellent unit. Once again, generally speaking this is the way you would want to go.

In most of the Aston-Martins and Jaguars i have worked on, most of the time they got Rockford's 360.2 installed in them. Especially when were talking about multi-channeled amplifiers or multiple amps installed at one time.

Audiocontrols unit have been around the longest, and the customer service from them is second to none. If i were going to be doing this, audiocontrol would most likely be my top pick.

Okay back to work.

I've seen these OEM intergration units around and to be honest they are a bit confusing, reading them i can't tell the sig diffrence from a crossover I have a Kicker six channel unit in my closet. Specifically which Audiocontrol unit do you mean? I'll take a close look at that one and the Rockford 360.2. I do want to get the best sound but at the same time I drive a X-Type not the XJR, LOL.

i understand the confusion, especially if your not on top of the specific lingo. I will always try my best to make sure there is understanding when i explain something. If not i can always try and re-explain it in different ways.

I was just checking Crutchfield they have Audio Control DQL-8 $599.99, Audio Control LC8, LC7, LC6i from $199.99 - $149.99 and a LJ Audio CL441dsp Cleansweep. What of this group would be your recomendation?

Bit-one processor. Probably the most advanced unit so far to date

Audiocontrol unit for use when you have the factory nav in the vehicle, lets just say its easier with all things considered.

Rockford 360.1 link, 399 retail makes it the cheapest so far

Rockford 360.2 link

the cleansweep is more then 1 piece. Hence yes they look to be cheaper, but in reality you will need to spend around 400 total for the right setup for your vehicle. Unless you can find some of them online.

That Audison is a beast i'm afraid to even look at how much that one is, rockford and the DQL8 are sim in price, i'll try and find DQL8 cheaper but prob have to settle with the LC8.

Yes please E-mail the wiring schematics. I'll do most of the work myself, may contract some stuff. Very few times have i been satisfied with the work/price of some shops. Many times i've felt that I could have done better job. Some vehicles are much harder than others, Jag doesn't seem to be easy. I'll probally get a shop to install the processor unless the schematic show it to be real simple and accessible.

Smile Yes to new Subs & ?? on MP3/ipod playing

Yes, I'd like to get new subs, mine are rattling in my 2003 S. So love to see the pics and hear the costs for your stock unit.
I found the wiring diags for the 2003 Premium sound system and now realise why it is virtually impossible to swap the cd changer for a cd/mp3 player!! Its that damn D2B fiber optic system.
Seems that Denison have a Gateway product that works with Mercs and other top end autos that use D2B. Check this link out - its a pdf installation guide for the product. http://www.dension.com/download.php?...stallguide.pdf
To those with more tech knowledge than I, would it be possible to use this in the Jag's with D2B optics??

Mine is not like this at all, I have a box type enclosure housing what looks like two subs but is actually one sub and one one Radiator and it's much easier to take out than yours (just had 5 screws from inside the trunk). What i'm wondering is can I put two real subs in that stock sub box.

oh they will fit, tried sub in both sides, just wondering if two subs would be too much for that box cause the box is not devided between subs. Also not absolutely sure I want to put the 6.5 back in, I have a 10" kicker connected to a Memhis amp and with that 6.5 sub box out of the right now it sounds excellant with nothing to muffle the sound.

Default Sub & system

Installed Sub in sub box fits/works fine. Installed Infinity 6020CS in all four doors fit fine no problems no mods/drilling needed, I did have to play with the tweeters a bit to work them in the stock location by the handle but no problems, no drilling needed. The Component speakers are not hooked up to Amp yet, still running off stereo. But i'll get to that in do time.
