Wink S-Type V6 Check Engine Light no code

S-Type V6 Check Engine Light no code

I've had 2 shops run diagnostics
One says no codes saved, or found
The other says, 88888

Any ideas?
I don't want to get the shaft from the Dealer, or anyone else.

Help

Well unfortunatly you probobly have a jag specific code that generic scanners wont pick up. Go to the dealer and pay a checkout charge to find out the reason. So far it sounds like youve paid for nothing and gotten that in return

Thanks,
On my way to Jaguar, but one last stop at AAMCO for another free check engine test I just want to know what I'm dealing with. I don't want to be told anything, as a female.

Thing is: if you let them READ the codes, no problem. If they also CLEAR the system, you LOSE the ones that the dealer could have read.

Thanks went to AAMCO, and they were able to pull P0492 and had a Tech Bulletin referring to some secondary air? Suggests upgrade to software, something needed to be flashed?

This is another prime example of why ive asked people to put year, model and engine in their signature line. And location too..........what year is your s type????????

Default Just an idea from another Stype owner

The check engine light has come on two times since I purchased the car in mid-April. Both times, it stayed of for about a day or so, then went off. I paid attention to the last time, and as soon as I loosened the gas cap and filled the almost-empty tank, the light went off. I can't remember anything specifically as to what might have happened to cause the check engine light to go off, the first time. I didn't have the comp scanned to see what was happening. You might just loosen your gas (petrol) cap and screw it on again to see if this causes the light to go out. Just an idea!

I might just mention on my 2003 v6 Stype, on my memorial day weekend trip of 465 miles from Salem, Oregon to Boise, Idaho that I averaged about 33 mpg going between 70mph and 75mph. I was amazed, to say the least. That's with using Unleaded Plus fuel. She ran like a dream for a car with 99K. It's going to turn over this week! Kinda sad.
