Default S Type valve covers

I have an 01 S type 4.0 do any other valve covers work on this engine. I bought the car with broken timing chain and valve covers were missing

All Jaguar 4.0L and 4.2L as well as the Lincoln LS 3.9L use the same basic cam covers. Now what you need to watch out for is the VVT. That is an electrical connection at the front of the cam cover. I think your car has it. The early LS does not but the 2003 and up LS's do.

You will find Lincoln parts are much cheaper and more common to pick up used.

With a broken timing chain the engine is most likely junk. Get another one. The pistons have smashed into the valves destroying them.

Im going to pull drivers side head 2 exhaust valves are bent just to see what the damage is. I have done 6 or 7 of these at work this is the first one with bent valves. I guess the others were lucky. I bought this thinking the valves werent bent but you know how that goes when its your own vehicle.

Have not heard of that before? If you find out what's different let the list know.

They may have improved the gaskets because of leaking? Not sure.

I think they may be talking about the VVT as that adds one more gasket to each cam cover. But I was pretty sure the early 4.0L had the VVT?

Anyway you can get them to pull a picture or BOM so you can see what's different between the two?
