It looks fantastic! Can you give us more details, such as cost and such? As of yesterday it looks like I will have to replace my windshield before I do any tint. Had a stone damage both layers of my windshield beside my rear view mirror mount yesterday. I was quoted $1,100 to replace it! I plan to search for a better deal of course.

Thanks! It was another mobile guy that came to my house. He charged $175 and got it done in less than two hours. I tipped him an extra $15 which is still a great deal. He used Llumar film, I think it was 20%. Sorry about the windshield, not surprising to hear it's double of what most other cars are.

Had mine tinted at Alta Mere here in Fort Worth, has tinted several of my vehicles and dozens more for friends and coworkers. $150 using Lumar limo on the back window and doors and 35% up front to stay kinda legal.

A must have for Texas summers and helps keep prying eyes from finding a reason to break 1000.00+ worth of stuff to steal a .10 item.

Looks awesome with that tint bro! You sure that is legal in Oregon to have it that dark, almost looks like limo tint.

pushing-tin.. your car looks great!! what % did you get??

american.. thanks for posting pics, now i know what i DONT want to do to my STR (no offense) but i dont really like how it looks with two different shades of tint..if your front ones are 35%, i think 25% all around would be ideal for me.. still kinda on the fence about it though.. damn cali cops look for any reason to pull you over.

Nope not legal, but I've had the same % on my last three cars and never had an issue. Better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

20% or thereabouts. Limo is like 8% or something.

I got 30% done on mine, didn't take long to do, and only paid $200 for all of the windows. I have a great tint guy if anyone needs it done in the chicagoland area.

Wow $200 for tints. Was it mobile? I mean I paid $120 (including whole windshield) and I got Huper Optic which told me they are the best.

It was mobile, but same price at his shop. Tints up here cost a lot more than down south, prob because so many shops do it down there because of different laws. I know people up here who get tints done for $100 around here, but I don't like the job they get done. I'm alright paying a little more for a perfect job. Not really a huge cost for something that makes such a big difference and lasts forever.

It's not just the laws which are more allowing of tint, but the overall cost of living that make everything more expensive in the north. I paid $165 as a favor because the tinter does work for my brother at his shop. A typical customer off the street tint job is $250-300 here.

Take care,

George

$200 is about exactly the going price for quality tint in this neck of the woods also.

I have a Black 2009 S Type and would like to get the windows tinted but have put it off due to the sat nav, etc. I'm also not sure what the best % of tint would be for the front windscreen. I put off getting my X Type's windows tinted, but with this black car and the Summers here it really needs it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would check what your local laws are for tint. Pretty much every state its illegal to tint the front windshield. There is a carbon metallic type tint that is not suppose to effect the Nav. I ran that on mine and I never had a problem with my cell phone or Nav cutting out because of it. I liked my 20% but it was pretty dark at night and it did cause problems when inspections were due. I should of just went with 35% which was the legal limit here but oh well it was already done. Some states aren't as strict and you can do whatever. I know in Florida it is not much of a problem. My grandfather has about 15 on everything but the windshield and it works great for keeping the inside cool but I think thats to dark for looking through at night. I think 20 is about the darkest I could stand.
