When I remove the interior door panels on my S Type there are some factory installed seals over some of the openings in the metal door frame. These seals are like tape - adhesive on one side and plastic coating on the other. - For example, there are round seals over the holes which allow access to the nuts/bolts that hold on the exterior mirrors. These can be peeled off and many times, if done carefully can be reused. However from time to time these seals rip or lose adhesion and are not reuseable. Anyone know what the formal part name for these is and where to order them or something that could be used to replace them? I'm not sure if they are for sound dampening or weather insulation but I feel like I should try to replace them in the sprit of keeping the vehicle in good shape. Any help is appreciated....

Me too. I intend to tighten the inside of my doors and I would like to know what I may need to replace (that I will likely break)
Without seeing the parts you are writing about...: I had success with using a heat-glue-gun to fix up water-protection-elements behind the door trim...
Tom, the small cloth backed circular tape stickers are mainly to stop moisture getting through, probably act as door sealing for the sonic quality for the door speakers as well.
As Peter above mentions, buy some duct tape or 'gaffer' tape as its also commonly know as, and cut it into circles if you want to keep the original look. The originals do last several goes of being removed and stuck back.
Ahhh the handyman's secret weapon. I'll admit I had not thought of that. I was thinking more of a part number or possibly a replacement kit but yes, a few minutes with some scissors would likely suffice. Thanks for the ideas!
