I bought a 2000 s type 4.0 with only 48 k miles yesterday. Car runs well.
I wanted to ask you guys about the secondary timing chain tensioner s.
What kind of tensioners came with this model and what should I be doing in terms of preventive maintainence.
I remember I bought a Lincoln ls many years ago and I replaced the tensioner on that car because of engine noise but that never solved the problem so I sold it.
I don't have a lot of time these days to work on my cars and was curious if you guys recommend me doing preventive change of tensioners if they are made of plastic or just wait and watch.
Thank you all and I'm glad to be back at the forum.

I think you'll almost for sure not have the correct (metal-bodied) ones. Lots of threads already on here for you to read...
The XK 4.0 is the same engine so here's a scary thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ailure-126567/
Well done for checking!
