Now for the questions: when you installed the manual trans, did you have any issues in the installation, do you have any photos you can share? The ZF6-53 has the same dimensions as the auto trans, but experience is better than theory. Did you use new flywheel bolts or existing (the flywheen thickness needs to be considered)? Did the transmission tail mounts work without any modifications? You said you shorened the shifting linkage about 4 inches, in the XK8 the engine and trans are about 4 inches more forward than the StypeR because the XK8 was designed for the Aston Martin V12 of the DB7, looks like no cutting is required. How did you mount the shift linkage tail mounting bracket to the chassis? Im sure you pluged of removed the transmission cooler. Where did you connect your electronic module into the CAN bus? Do you know of a way to check the manual synchro before installing into the car? Any additional thoughts would be appreciated before I open the XK8 would be helpful. I will share the code once everything is working, so you can do the same although the StypeR CAN addresses will have to be considered.
The biggest issue I had was just being able to get the trans bolt up to the engine. I couldn't get the trans high enough to get around the fingers on the pressure plate. The trans has to come up into the chassis before being able to slide forward into the clutch disc. The firewall/trans tunnel blocked it from getting that high. I took threaded rod/some nuts/washers of the appropriate size and dropped the front subframe to get everything to slide together. Tom Lenthall provided bolts for me to use. Having looked at the bolts, I think standard over the counter grade 10.9 flange head of appropriate size could be obtained and used. Just have to account for flywheel thickness and crank thread engagement. Trans mounts/crossmember are all stock automatic stuff. The crossmember is designed with slots instead of holes for the bolts so I just slide it to correct orientation. The chassis on my car had holes in the exact spot for the rear shift carrier mount, I just put nutserts in those spots and used some 6mm flange head bolts to mount it. Trans cooler lines are all removed. My arduino is connected on the same wires that went to the jgate so everything else in the system works as it did. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to check the gearbox before install. And that screwed me up because the first one I installed had a bad second gear that's since been replaced.

The module you have described sounds amazing. You're obviously better at coding than I am. Unfortunately, I've let this project fall by the wayside while I build other cars. It's still an amazing car to drive, would just be better with proper programming. I look forward to hearing how your module turns out.

I'll look through my pictures to see if I have any of the install.

I get excited every time this thread pops. I hope you guys sort this out. I’d love to do a manual swap.

Also to anyone using a 2.7 transmission in a xk8.

It bolts up perfect and you use your stock trans cross mount. its slotted.

Has anyone made a Manual tcm yet?
