starts!!! but have smoke
Well completed project and started it up to get out of garage so I can put on ramps to do coolant. Did add some coolant to overflow tank before starting just in case. Started with no problems, a little rough at first but expected according to other posts. After running just a little bit started to see smoke coming from it looks like the upper manifold where I replaced the o rings. I did use a Carburator cleaner to clean out inside of manifold and let it dry before putting back. And did put a little silicone on the rings. Could the smoke be the C Cleaner or silicone burning off the remnants on inside of manifold? or something else. Ran my code reader and pass on everything. Thinking though if sealed tight, how could smoke get out of manifold? Afraid to let it run to long with continued smoke and did not let it run long enough to overheat. Please tell me its the Cleaner

Your OBD tool is unlikely to be told any codes so soon after connecting the battery, as the car's monitors have not yet Completed and usually 2 cold-to-hot drives are needed. (You can see codes so early, but not likely after the work you've done.)
Thanks for response. Went to start it up and let it run a while. Turned the key and it went through the seat and steering wheel adjustment (not set as of yet) and the rpm and mileage went from 0 to all the way and back and then turned key. Gave me that ticking sound of a dead battery Battery is charged by test with volt meter. Tried again and just get fast ticking sound. After connecting the battery cables after charge, went to open door and alarm went off so put key in and turned to on to disarm. Now just continue to get the fast ticking sound when turning the key. Maybe a fuse? Could I have hurt starter pulling battery cables off and on to charge?

Thanks for response. Went to start it up and let it run a while. Turned the key and it went through the seat and steering wheel adjustment (not set as of yet) and the rpm and mileage went from 0 to all the way and back and then turned key. Gave me that ticking sound of a dead battery sound and at first seemed to come from the left side of engine and then the sound seemed to come from the right side. Battery seems charged but maybe need to leave on charger a little longer. Followed directions Interstate suggested to re-charge it. I am guessing it has to run to get the computer back on track.
I am somewhat confussed. Is the ticking coming from the engine (while running) or the battery? You had the car running and then shut it off and now it won't start?
A small amount of smoke would be acceptable for the repairs that you have made.
Thanks Rick for reply. Yes, started up right away after trying the first time. Drove it out of garage and let it run a bit and started to see some smoke, nothing major but enough to cause concern. Turned it off waited about 20 minutes, started it and had the smoke issue again. thinking the cleaner. Turned it off. Now when I try to start, get the very fast clicking sound from engine like dead battery but Battery seems to be ok. No turn over of the engine just the fast clicking. Read on site maybe a relay fuse?
Re-charged the battery and car started without issue. Had some more light smoke (wife told me smoke kind of smells sweet) and this was coming from the passenger side beneath the upper manifold. It stopped and then drove it up the road for a test drive. Seemed to be ok. Kept engine running and popped hood and now some smoke on the other side (drivers). I did spray a lot of WD40 on most of the bolts on the car to keep them from any type of rust forming so maybe that is the sweet smell. All of a sudden temp gauge started to climb quickly so realized need to do the coolant thing.
sweet smell is coolant!!!! double check all coolant lines or look for a puddle of coolant on the manifold. The engine will have to be warm to hot more than likely to see any coolant flow leaks.
Mike, atleast the battery charge fixed you up!
