Default Steering Wheel Left Hand Drive 2007 Jaguar S-Type R

Just this morning, as I was driving with my drivers window rolled down, I noticed that the steering wheel buttons are on the wrong side of the steering wheel. Can't answer the phone or mute the radio. Shame on Jaguar engineers for being so pious as to put a right-hand-drive steering wheel in a left-hand-drive vehicle.

Why can't you use them no matter what side they're on?

If they were on the left I'd use my left hand; on the right my right hand. I would not care which side they were on as I have 2 hands. Do you only have one or what?

Does the problem go away if you roll the window back up?

They are not on the wrong side. The car manufacturers swap them around.

The Lincoln LS and the S Type use the exact same switches but the LS is completely opposite of the S Type. I am always hitting the wrong button when I drive the wife's LS.

Here where I live when we are cruising the thoroughfare in nice weather we like to roll the window down and rest our elbow on the window ledge so we can handwave to others we encounter. So with this style of cruising it would be better to have the audio control buttons on the steering wheel on the right side and the cruise control buttons on the left.

That is rich, Mikey!!!!

OP I have a couple of suggestions for your "cruising wave, controls on wrong side". See below:

This seems to be pretty simple, and looks like your significant other might benefit in other ways:

This one seems to be a better choice, but you will have to spend some money that should be set aside for real problems like the "under supercharger coolant hose", suspension parts replacement etc.....

All these years here, I have got to say this "complaint" runs right up there with a previous member (Jons buddy), danielstar's spewings......

There's a blast from the past. He responded to my very first post here asking about changing rear brake pads. I wondered what kind of fruit loops group I had wandered into.

I think Jeff Osworth (from Ohio) also did battle with ol' Daniel Satur, but Jeff's been gone from the forum about five years now....

Ah, this thread is starting to remind me of the old days....Kinda getting off subject. Oh I forgot to put JagV8 in the mix.

I see Jeff time to time, his father purchased a horse ranch about 45 minutes south of me. It has been a while for since we talked, I will give him a call this weekend to catch up. Thanks Jon.

I wonder how many kids bull is up to? Or if he is still even married.

Man I am glad that fool is gone!!

Daniel "the out in left field I don't know what I am talking about" Satur.

I still think he was just pulling everyone's chain and trolling along.

That first video had me wondering what the camera would show!

Turned out to be scary.

Rick,

Are you referring to Bull27 from the Boston area? I think his wife made him sell his STR and get a minivan or an SUV when they had their first kid. That had to be three or four years ago, maybe longer....

Yes, that Bull. I believe it was a mini van, I tried to talk him into an Escalade X500 which is a factory supercharged Vortec 6.0, his SWMBO convinced him otherwise....poor sap for not standing his ground.

Such are the perils of matrimony, my friend. If all of us had only known better back in the day....

And now, back to our regular programming....

Default resolved!

The problem goes away if the driver ...

- quits holding the roof on
- drives with both hands
- turns off the cell phone

JagV8 can probably confirm that there is no such
thing as a RHD and LHD version of the steering
wheel with buttons swapped.
