Str ecu tune
Tomorrow, Lomotion Corvette of Poughkeepsie, NY, is removing the ECU and shipping it to their ECU tuner in California. Once there the tuner will study it, beyond this is a mystery. A Mustang dyno is a short distance from Lomotion, where I hope to bang out some noticeable power. If there's a benefit to the tune, Lomotion will work out a group buy for all who are interested. I'll need a "Killer Chiller" installed prior to dyno. Though Mafioso is working on developing his own unit, I may have to settle for what is available on the market due to time constraints. Let's see what happens....

Nothing to update on my side. My car is at the body shop about to receive a new hood and trunk. Massive golf ball sized hail hit the Western long island area of New york and my car got some serious dents. GEICO's gonna have to shell out some serious coin.

Hey Chris, wat up bro? One of my patients is having both his cars repaired from the same hail storm that attacked your STR. Enjoy the new hood and paint. I'll keep ya posted as to what develops with the STR ECU on an expert tuners bench.
Thanks Regent. If the ECU tune can be performed and dyno-proven to help the STR pump out an additional 25 hp, then it's worth it to me. Those interested may recieve an affordable dyno-proven tune. In Europe dyno-tunes are less of a stranger to Jags. This is well over due for Jag owners who wished for a verifiable tune.

I've been researching ecu tunes...What I'm about to say isn't directed at anyone in this thread, mainly noobs as I didn't see a lot of this discussed in the forums.
Dyno queen = Peak dyno numbers HP/TQ...
What you really need to pay attention to the torque curve which will give you better results of either the quarter mile or the highway pull...It's possible that you could have a 10 hp/tq loss from peak but if you showing an average gain of 25lb/tq across 90% of the curve, guess which car will be quicker/faster?

I'm def. with ya Bacardi. I'd take 25 lb/ft trq. over 25 hp anyday. Trq. is what sets things in motion...moves the metal off the line. Jaguar's FXR and XKR belt out 460 lb/ft trq. The engineers could have squeezed out more hp but noticed a drop in trq. when doing so. Someone has to be the test monkey? Avos, I checked with that dyno tune company (Vizio?), I read recently Eurotoys, etc. sends their customers ECU's to them for tunes. I called a Connecticut dealer on their list and he said he no longer tunes. If all els fails i may contact another dealer.
Still waiting for word that the ECU tuner in California is able to crack into the ECU and come up with the software to tune. The car lies in the Lomotion Corvettes's (Poughkeepsie, NY) shop. When they recieve back the ECU they also will detail her ($150).
The tuner in California said he can alter the ECU. He's flying to NY in mid September to tune her while on the dyno. In the meantime the ECU was shipped back and reinstalled. They detailed the cat- picking her up tomorrow.
Hi Chris. The tuner is primarily coming to tune a supercharged BMW, his expertice. The sentiment between Lomotion Corvette and myself is; this is a fact finding mission on tuning an STR. Essentially we have a verbal agreement to try to dyno-tune my STR (test mule), if successful, they are to sell tunes to us in a group buy. I have no financial interest except to tune my car and have my Jaguar Forum buddies benefit. The caveat to my STR tune is that it's not stock. I'm not sure how my tune will affect an unaltered STR, or a lightly modified one.
Yep Chris, we may have a reproducable ECU tune in the near future. Besides the desire to wring out more power, I'm looking to circumvent Jaguar's engine/driver safety parameters to the extent of not completely jeapordizing the motor and me. Yep Mafioso, this'll be cool time for an intercooler "Chiller".
Bacardi, I spoke to the tuner about the short-shift characteristics. His said the TCM normally responds to the ECU's new parameters with more agressive shift patterns. Would be lovely huh?
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, "more aggressive" could only mean like 50RPMs, that's assuming the Jag enginneers didn't put like a governer on the RPMs...
