STR - Front Strut Part List Help
03 STR w/ 61K Miles
My front strut's are leaking, therefore it's time to replace them as the ride is getting worse. I have located the front suspension diagram and am wondering if it is necessary and wise to replace a few other components while the shop is "In There." Gaudinjaguarparts.com seems to have the best deal for all the components, please let me know if there is possibly a cheaper online site? I would very much like to keep the CATS as its one of the reasons why I bought the car.
Here is the list that I need help with:
(L/R for all below)
Front Shock Absorber W/ Adaptive Dampening W/ Supercharger
Spring Seat
Spring Insulator
Coil Spring (is this necessary?)
Spring Insulator
Shock Mount
2004 JAGUAR S-TYPE Parts - Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com
Cheers!

Spring shouldn't need replacing unless its broken. The top mount should be fine, and the spring insulator (isolator) will only need replacing if its breaking up or badly deformed.
The new shock will come with a new shock lower bush, so that's a good thing as these wear and make a knocking noise!
Spring seat is plastic and should be fine.
So to be honest unless its dismantled already I'd suggest just buying the shocks, my 4.2 had worn shocks at 73k miles but everything else was in great shape.
If you do want to make sure you're not having to wait for a second order of parts I'd go for the spring insulators (isolators) as these are cheap and can go soft or crumble without being seen as they are up in the top of the shock..... Of course if your mechanic finds some control arm or knuckle bushes that have wear then you'll need to get these anyway, so you may want to wait and see and just order the shocks for now?
