Default STR on nitrous.

Hi guys

I'm very keen to tune my STR. I do use the car for motorway driving so was thinking that nitrous tuning may be s good option as it's there when I want to use it but I can still have the MPG on a run.

I'm wondering if it's advisable to put nos on an STR? are there any other mods that I'd need to do before that? Will the car take it?

I've allready got a stainless cat back exhaust. Prob get a filter and a smaller upper pulley to go on.

I hate the thought of putting a small bomb in the trunk of my car.....plus getting the damned thing filled all of the time....

Greg, I'd hate to find out NO2 melted your STR's motor...so why don't you do what I and others have done: K&N air filter in stock airbox mated to a soon to be released high flow air intake tube (dynoed by Mafioso to increase hp by 13 hp and 7 lb/ft trq., full (hi-flow cats back) exhaust mod (est. 20+ hp), smaller upper pulley (1.5 lb. = est. 20+ hp, or 3lb. = est. 35+ hp), and a low temperature thermostat = est. 460+ @ 480+ lb/ft torque. Add methyl-alcohol injection (est. 40+ hp) and yer one of the kings of the road. Just too many stories of NO2 wrecking engines bro. At the present we're not quite sure if the STR can handle "Laughing Gas" without self destructing.

looks like an expensive part. i know de catting altogether is not going to pass an MOT but would a decat work better than a high flow cat??

The only thing I worry about with nitrous is how do you keep it from spraying in between shifts? I would think that would be very bad for the transmission.

thats what i was thinking the only time you could really use it would be in 5th gear with the car in 5 going at high speed. so you have the unrestricted performance and you know its not going to change down, very limited use.

75 show will not hurt it at all....I kinda know ....Get yourself a window switch and set it before redline.....never sprayed between shifts....and I do on a button.....You only blow it up when you do too much or dont know what you are doing....

greg, pop off the stock cats and weld on a set of Magnaflow hi-flo cats (affordable and very effective).
