Default STR supercharged plastic cover

hi all

got a strange question, is that crappy looking plastic cover required on the STR? the reson i ask is everytime i see one on a picture its been removed? i know the supercharger has a tendedncy to heat up, would removing it not help with cooloing or am i missing th point a little??

I believe the cover was designed mainly for noise suppression. Screw-type superchargers make a whining noise. Removing it isn't going to harm the motor.

ive not taken delivery of it yet, waiting for the post man my signature kinda covers whats happening in the next week or two. i couldnt resist

Mine must have been removed by the former owner. And even though there have been back and forth on this forum about the k&n, I really like mine. At the very least the blower is louder.

Not to hijack this thread too much ... but i've been running a K&N air filter for 30,000 miles and have had zero problems. Last week I checked my intake pipe, inlet to supercharger and MAF sensor and they were clean as a whistle.

ive had them on many bikes in the past but never on a car. worst comes to it ill pull it out and bin it! i cant see it happening though

The filters are nicey nice.....I got one the first day I got the car.....I am running the 3lb pulley as well from Pheonix COach works....have fun grinding the snout down

Loving my KN, with the intake elbow, the blower is really loud now.

Ordered one on e-bay, $41 shipped. Removed the baffle today.

I kept the black plastic cover, but I did fill in the SUPERCHARGED letters with white paint
