str tire upsize question
I need new tires for my str. I would like to step up the profile from 35 in the rear to a 40 and increase the 40 in the front to a 45. Overall my rolling diameter will increase by ~1 inch. However my car is droped with mina springs. Am i going to have any rubbing issues? I looked and can't really find any problems but was wondering if someone has done this?
I am doing this so the tire has more cushion to absorb bumps and maybe the rims won't bend as easily.
btw I plan on getting the Nitto Invos because they are drop dead sexy and i can get a good price unless another place will offer me dunlop direzza Z1 star spec at a good price.
Thanks.

I am not sure if you will have a rubbing issue, but there will be an increase in diameter over 3% which is not a good idea. I have the Mina springs installed, but have a plus one wheel and tire upgrade with minmal change in overall diameter on my STR.

I've got 40's on the back and 45's in the front. Have not had any problems whatsoever. They are quieter overall. Sometimes I get the "whine" or "hum" from the rear tires when i'm on the road at about 45mph or so....nothing too annoying.
Only downside is the handling. They are still amazing at gripping the road, but on fast hard sharp turns you can feel a small amount of slushiness that was not there with the 35's. But I rarely drive it that crazy anyway, so it doesn't make much diff to me.

I went to a 295/35 rear. The sidewall is a little taller, so it has a little softer ride. I don't notice any wiggle on hard turns, but the grip at launch is much greater than with the 275's that were on it before. BTW, I went from Avon's to General UHP's... the Avon's would go up in smoke at the smallest amount of throttle. Maybe just a harder compound?
