My pleasure, jagV8! Information is King!!

Edit: Y'know, I probably could have mentioned that I had that icing happen to me on my '93 XJ40, twice. Both times on sort of cool foggy mornings. I took off from a traffic light under moderate acceleration and when I tried to level off speed, she just kept on going. When I pulled off to a stop in neutral, after about 30 seconds the idle dropped to normal, all on its own. When I dug into it, the hose to the throttle body had swollen shut. New hose, never happened again.

Cheers,

How do you guys get icing? I live in Quebec City, which is far colder than any of the places listed in this thread and have never had a problem starting the car....

Perhaps it's cold enough that there's very little moisture in the air.
Though the mechanisms in the PDF look likely to apply anywhere........

Two points.

1. The closer to the freezing point and more humid [damp] the air is, the more susceptible you are to throttle icing. Though it can still happen in really frigid temps.

2. Probably goes to somewhat validate that you have never had an issue with your throttle heating mechanism.

The aircraft industry used to think they were immune to icing because of the sub-zero temps aloft. Google throttle icing and you'll see they are changing their tune.

Huh. It`s humid as heck here too....

I`ve had my carbs freeze up (back in the day!) but never a fuel injected system. Another good reason to keep her inside during the dark days of winter.
