Default Stype service/repair manual? Glovebox

I have a copy of the JITS manual/CD but it covers only Stype 1999-2004 (I had a 2000) . I just purchased a SType STR 2005 and need to pull out the glovebox and attempt to fix the latch, it's loose (falling forward) for some reason. Any one else see this?

I can't find any repair manuals for 2005+. I search this forum for glove box info but after a couple days couldn't find what I needed.

Any good links? Thanx.

See whether what you have works or you can pay one of the pay sites.

2005 has redesigned interior, nothiing like my 2000. And I was hoping to get an updated JITS for 2005+ but can't find anything.

Thanx.

As I said, pay or use what you have. Don't know why you bring up 2000 when you're aware JTIS covers 2004 etc.

I wrote: I have JITS but it covers only 1999-2004 (I have that since I owned a 2000). But now I have a 2005 STR. So there must be something out there that covers 2005-2008 Stypes.

I can't use what I have because again it's up to only 2004. I was told that the 2005 doesn't have the same exact interior.

A helpful response would be links or information pertaining to the posting.
So does anyone know where I could get a repair manual, JITS, etc?

Or have an STR where they worked on the glove box. Thank you.

open glove box - remove 2 upper retaining screws,

detach lower trim panel, unscrew 3 retaining screws and right hand duct retaining bolt,

remove right hand footwell duct,

remove lower (2) glovebox retaining screws,

disconnect glovebox light harness,

remove glovebox

Rick - where did you get that?

It looks like the JTIS details, just re-worded. Is there something hard to figure out that's not in the JTIS details? (I don't think so.)

Oddly enough I did read what he put. I pointed out the 2000 part beacuse the big change was 2002.5 and JTIS covers that and later. I also pointed out that if he really insists on 2005+ then his option is to pay. Incidentally, it's easy to bitch the way you just did but why don't you help instead?

There are the pay sites, which are easily found and which have been covered here lots, such as AlldataDIY and jaguar's own GTR.

The exact same it may not be but how different do you think the glove box is 2005 from 2004 bearing in mind you can hardly have failed to notice the big changes were years earlier (2002.5, call it 2003 if you like). Maybe you can use what you have! Did you try?

There are only the pay sites.

Sorry, but I have to defend JagV8 here... I use this site WAY more than anything else..Some times I comment, sometimes I don't. I actually am a shade tree mechanic at best...I'll come on here instead of Facebook and the likes of other social networking sites...

While JagV8 may be blunt with his "search" and "buy the manual" comments. I have watched him also talk people through the all of the technical OBD mumbo jumbo. He has also posted a great many helpful data sheets. So, unless you have something more valuable to add, please keep your stupid criticisms to yourself.

To the OP... JagV8 is correct. I actually have the "through 2004" JTIS myself. Remember, the most extensive update was the 2002.5 (2003 in US) update. Everything else was just minor appearance updates. So, the JTIS works just fine...Call your car a 2004 and search it like that. It works fine. In fact, the only major change that really impacts JTIS that I know of is the addition of VVT on the STR for 2006......

BTW....The dash change was also part of the 2002.5 update...So, that didn't change at all for 2005....

Ok, here's my spin on the thread, then I'll leave it alone.

This, and so many forums on the internet, often get the same questions from new members, and sometimes older ones, and we have to type up the same answers every time. What separates this jaguar forum from the others, is how we approach these repetitive replies. It may take a few extra minutes, and requires a bit of patience and tact, but we can be a little more respectful.

I am sure jagv8 did not intend his response to be taken as simply a 'slap in the face' with a dash of humiliation for seasoning.

What JOsworth replied with -
Remember, the most extensive update was the 2002.5 (2003 in US) update. Everything else was just minor appearance updates. So, the JTIS works just fine...Call your car a 2004 and search it like that. was the longer, but more desirable approach that we all strive to provide, and prefer received in the OP's shoes.

To the OP, use the 2004 model in the JTIS for 99.9% of your needs, and if there's a questionable area where you may possibly screw something up royally, play it safe, and ask first. The last JTIS is 2005 (you can find it on ebay as the Jaguar TIS, not JTIS) but the only addition to it was the 2004 XJ series, the s-type list was only limited to the 2004 and earlier models <- this is from memory, and I will confirm for you later tonight.

Ok, here's the crux of it.....

The longer, but more desirable approach that we should all strive to provide, is obviously preferred from the OP's point of view.
It may be a real PITA as it probably has been answered many many times, BUT I have a personal hatred ( as do many others ) of this short abrupt attitude, as I have seen on so many other forums.
Essentially, if you cannot be helpful / offer reasonable suggestions etc, then DO NOT respond!
We wish to grow the site and welcome as many new members as possible.

This is directed to no one member in particular, but, applies to ALL members of this site!

Some of you may remember a short while ago members that although helpful, could be, and often were "short" with other members, impatient, slating off newbies, name calling and calling into question peoples education due to spelling / grammatical errors.
ANY / ALL of the above will not be tolerated by ANY member....

Please lets move on

Sorry if I was out of order. (You can't expect tact from a Yorkshireman, though.)

Thanx h20boy I'll search eBay for the description you gave. Searching straight up JITS yielded only the one I have, now I know why.
I'll try the approach from joycesjag on removal.

I will say that I've been a Jag owner for almost 10 years. And I spend a lot of time researching the issue myself before posting. I reviewed this site for a few hours but I did find it hard to filter through all the postings. Search phrases, etc are always the key, and not a science as most find out (I'm a software developer).
And I appreciate helpful information as I try to give that myself when I can. I.e I replaced the water pump on my 2000 so I understand what that takes if anyone can benefit from that.

Thanx.
