Default Sunglasses holder stays Down

Folks,

The sunglasses holder on our Jaguar stays open. It appears the tongue/post that the spring loaded latch catches on is broken/rounded off. Is there an easy fix for this or does the whole (sunglasses holder and interior lights) unit need to be replaced?
I recently posted about map lights and now this...the good news is I am focusing on this little things because all else is good! It rides, drives, and stops great. It even looks good too!
So in the big scheme of car repair & life these are minor annoyances.

Have you had the consol out? If so make sure the the end of the consol near the sunglasses holder is pushed up hard and the locking tabs are engaged, just a thort?

Default Alternative to XR857259 ? sun glass bin

The below is cup holder/overhead sunglasses holder console clip for an Australian made Holden Commodore sedan (a General Motors Australia vehicle) which appears to be identical to the Jaguar type. I have ordered a few at $7.50AUD including postage (about $6.00USD), not sure if the seller will post OS but I assume he will. I did notice a few other similar looking clips but not quite the same and they did not specify a country of origin like this seller; likely to be Japanese made as there was quite a bit of Japanese content in these vehicles.
If they wont post to you let me know.
If it fits this would be a fraction of the cost of other sellers...

Cheers.

Hi Dutchy805, sorry for the late reply. You would know what a Holden Commodore is of course being in Australia and I can confirm that this part was a perfect fit for my Jaguar. Kind of makes you wonder who is making some money along the way, hilarious that on the Jaguar Classic Parts Site, Jaguar are asking 24.55 pounds for it!! I cannot remember to well now I am afraid, but click on 'OldMike's' link above and that will take you to the thread explaining how others have removed it. I think I had the whole over head console out for another reason so it made it easy for me to replace.

This problem was evident in my 2006 model. Having read these threads I took a look and remover the rubber insert which pulls out easily. Then, using a small jewelry type flat blade screw driver depressed the lug on one side of the clip while pressing down from the back and felt it cant over so moved the screwdriver to the other side lug and pressed and out it popped.
Note which way is facing forward, turn it round 180 degrees and re fit it.
Job done!
(unless someone has done this before it will now work for a good few years.
