Default Tail Light Lens Assembly

Hi, does anyone have tryed any method to repair the tabs on the Tail Light Lens Assembly. i have 2 of the 3 tabs broken on both tail lights, right now they are secure just by one on each side. the lens assembly on each side are in good condition don't want to change it just because of the tabs. Had to put a cover to the car because there is water comming in, the broken ones are upper and side tabs on both sides, the lower one in both sides are ok.

if there is any way to repair them or something to make the lens assembly tight in place please let me know.

My S-Type are from after 2004. You have on your 2001 a different tail light. But I think, both tail lights are fixed to the car by the same method: There are bolts from the inside of the boot (trunk) going into the tail-light. So, when you ask about broken tabs, I think you are asking about the latching clips on the bit of plastic, which holds the bulbs - is that correct?

If that is the case, I would imagine, that those could be found at the wrecker (junk yard), on tail lights, where the lens is broken, so that that part, which holds the bulbs should be for sale on its own.

Other than that: I would try to fill the clips with silicone from behind, if you still have the broken clips.
Or: find a way to press the part with the bulbs onto the tail light with a bit of wire, which you have to fix somewhere, so that that wire can do exactly that.

No, the one that I have in my car are attatch with 3 plastic tabs, and have 2 other tabs that secure the plastic with the bulbs. I have search also on how to uninstall them (on a 2001) and talk about those tabs and not bolts.

I think they change those tabs for bolts in 2004 and up modelo

this one is for a 1999 - 2003 models, in the green circle are the 3 tabs that I mentione and on red círculos the 2 that you mention. I have the upper and side broken on each side.

OK. I think I do have an ide of how you may be able to fix it - it is difficult to describe with words - I hope, you understand it:
Either thru the remainder of the broken off clips or thru the back-wall of the lamp I would drill a little hole each.
Thru that hole I would stick a bit of metal-wire.
The two end of the wire are then directed thru the slots in the boot (trunk), where the clips would go thru normally (which are broken off).
Now, you tie the two ends of the wire (inside of the boot) around a nail, and then you either twist the nail (to shorten the wire (and by that tighten the tail light)) or you use something as spacer (e.g. a bit of wood) between the nail and the inside of the boot to tighten the lamp in position.
Once the lamp is tightened in place, you may secure the "construction" with silicone, so that it does not get loose again.

That's just an idea I had, when I thought about your problem - it should work.
