Is there a gasket between Catalytic Converter and Manifold
Replaced my Catalytic Converter last year because I was getting a P0420. Not getting that anymore but I smell exhaust gases when idling. I am guessing this has to do with where the Catalytic converter is attached to the bottom of the exhaust manifold and perhaps I have a small leak.
The replacement Catalytic converter came with a gasket, when I removed the old catalytic converter I did not see any gasket. I used the gasket in between the flange and tightened the cat.
My question is - I am second guessing that perhaps I am not supposed to use the gasket and the replacement catalytic converter should go directly on the flange of the outlet from the exhaust manifold. Can anyone who has replaced their cats shed light if there is a gasket or not between these two?
Also as per JTIS it does not show any gasket - doesn't mean there isn't any. Also says not to use any jointing compound.

Anyone? When you replaced your catalytic converter did you recollect using a gasket on one end that attaches to the bottom of the exhaust manifold or no gasket was required?
I am sure there are few members who must have done this. Would appreciate any response.

I have not done this ,but looking at the Jaguar EPC I did not see a gasket nor could I find a part number for a gasket.
According to the Service Manual there is a self sealing flange between the cat and the exhaust manifold.
