Default Thinking of putting on 07+ XJ/KF/XK chrome side vents on my STR...Pix

If you don't like them, I don't care, yet if you choose to voice your opinion I won't stop you...I like cerebral debate and will stick to my guns

They're stick on and clearly non-functional; doing some research, all the OEM Jags that come stock with them are also all non-functional.

The main problem appears to be exactly where to place them...If I could remove the fender marker lens and place the stick-on vents over holes, I'm not sure if they'll fully cover the holes. Also which would you recommend?

Not my cup of tea, but I'd still like to see how they turn out!

Don't they do anything on any models of the XF?

oh god please noooo!!. Anything not already factory "stuck" onto your car should not be added.. just my opinion but I think its one of the worst offenses. I live in an area that has quite a bit of shall we say "culture" and this has to be one of the most prevelant attrocities. Anywhere from a corolla to a buick to a BMW. Everyone is sticking these side vent things on their fenders and even other places. I just looks so ridiculous. SO many manufacturers are doing this now..even kia and hyundai...most factory ones dont even look good to me.. but thats just me.
its kind of tantamount to buying a BMW 318 and putting M3 badging allover it.

enough of my rambling.......

A homeless guy said to me one day that "good design is a process of subtraction not addition" and then bummed a smoke and asked for directions to nearest 4 star restaurant...

I think they have kind of been overdone to be honest.

If you do proceed, I would avoid covering the marker light and your R badge. So they would have to go between those and the door.

Body color would be my suggestion to make them blend in a bit better.

Bacardi 151,

What if you wanted to remove these later? Would there be any risk of paint coming off with the sticky tape?

Also, think longer term - do you really foresee these being on the car 5 years from now? Do you think that the novelty is going to wear off?

Just some things to consider. I've done stuff like this to my cars and I've always come back full circle to removing. The short term excitement and novelty eventually wears off and you yearn for going back to basics and originality.

After really looking at it, I'm going to pass...There's no way to have it look acceptable without bodywork due to the marker lens...You either need to fill in the marker hole or even cut a slot which may cost the same as filling in the marker hole...

Doesn't have to even be a bolt on addition. My buddy has a stock Toyota Tacoma that came with a non-functional hood scoop. Never got that really.

Jeremy over on the X Type forums put XJ vents on his X. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...rpc-jag-34484/

I think he bent them a little to curve with the surface.

Again I'm not a fan of it and I think you made the right call, but if you were gonna do it here is some info.

Thanks...Without spending some $$$ on bodywork, it's not going to work so I bailed on the whole idea...

Too tall and I don't see enough area there to pull it off properly.

Why not buy the real thing?

It's still a bit tall IMHO.

I personally think all the random chrome bits on the car look terrible, especially when people have chrome mirrors.

Maybe I should replace my R badge with a 3.0, or better yet find a 2.7 diesel!

By your downgrade logic, no need to stop there, replace your R badge with a TAURUS emblem...

I have put the cheesy chrome mirror covers on both ours vehicles. I guess I lowered the value even more since the Jag is a lowly granny 3.0!
