Default Thinking of selling my 05 STR

Hey guys I have lurked on this forum for a few years, I am thinking of selling my 05 STR in Houston. Here are a few details
Dealer serviced since new, has every recommended service done at the dealer. The car is currently under warranty and always goes to Jaguar Central in Houston. It has around 49,XXX miles and is Quarts on Dove. Perfect condition, no dents / scratches whatsoever. I have babied this car , interior is perfect no scratches or stains, has been kept indoors all its life. Here are list of upgrades and recent service.

Brand new: Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST Run Flat tires all around…(Ask me why I choose run flat)

Cooling system recently redone with all new hoses and new coolant tank.
New Belts (due to the coolant leaking onto the belts when the coolant tank leaked)
New Updated Pulleys ( it would squeak on start up until it got warm , Jaguar updated the design and the update was performed on my car .
Both headlight assemblies were replaced.
New instrument cluster due to an internal failure.
The car has had all the updates and system flashes as well as NAV upgrade.
Parking brake module replaced
Recent brakes and new rotors on the rear, new windshield wiper inserts (the proper ones from Jaguar)
Windshield washer pump and tank is new.

Upgrades:

Arden Exhaust with chrome oversized tips ( looks awesome compared to stock as well as sounds great)
Arden lower mesh insert (matches grill )
Arden Pedals
K&N air box & filter.
Wheel caps are red instead of green.
Interior has the black upper dash and crème lower dash. Gray headliner. Typical R equipped car , 6 disc changer , heated seats, Alpine sound.
$650 Tint job from Momentum Jaguar.
3 sets of keys ( one fob brand new ) . Valet Key.

This has been a great car and I am tooling with the idea of selling it. If interested let me know, I cant say enough how meticulously this car has been maintained. Every weak point in the car has been addressed. I will also check to see how long the warranty is for . I know its good to 75K but not sure on the date. I will add pictures when the weather permits good photos.

Jeremy, you might want to contact fellow member sinister, he posted this on Sunday I believe:

I guess he currently owns an XJ8/XJR MY 1998/2003

Considering it has $2,000 in new tires and all the typical issues taken care of already and still under warranty I think my price range is realistic. There are 2 05's in Houston for sale with higher miles and no warranty for $23,000-$25,500 range.

I'm curious on where you sourced your Arden stuff. Was it somewhere in the states or did you get it shipped from overseas? Was it at a hefty expensive?
Also must see pics of Arden stuff. Willing to part any of the aftermarket stuff? How much did the red caps end up costing you?

I had the local Aston Martin dealer order the Arden exhaust and accessories as they were an authorized dealer. It was a fortune
As for the red caps I can't remember as I had it done right when I got the car. I also swapped the R gear shifter for one that came out of my Mothers 1995 XJ12 that gave its life for ours (literally)

I'm out of town but will get some pics up as soon as I can.

Sounds like a great car. I just looked at the completed e-bay auctions and only one sold a 2007 STR with 37k miles for $27,500. You'd probably be better off selling your parts separately.

Like I said I'm open to offers, I turned down a $22K offer from a co worker so I'm in no hurry to sell. I also don't have the time or desire to take the parts off , it simply is not worth the extra $2-3K that I will recoup by doing it.

I hadn't heard about this upgrade/change. Do you have any more information on this like possibly a TSB#?

Thanks.

FEAD = Front End Auxiliary Drive

Default Sorry to divert a bit on topic ...

I see that. Hmmmm I do hear some noise at startup some times but nothing really awful. I can't find that TSB# though. Thanks.

I expect that this a lot of work which means that they have ample opportunity to screw something up. They get precious little time to finish some of this stuff.
So is it worth doing if you're not really having a problem? I have only 21K miles but warranty expires in 3 months.

My. .02 of a Dollar FWIW. - Take that offer and run. It's a depreciating asset, and the longer you hold out, the less you will ulitmately sell it for.
Considering this economy, and the resale market for Jaguars and S-Types..

That's GOOD $$ for that car. Dare I say top of the market...

I know it has some upgrades (which only affect the value to an enthusiast etc), but just to give you an idea of what they are doing at the dealer auctions right now, have a look at the manheim market report....

Your Car certainly qualifies as an above average car by your description.

Take care,

George

I agree with George. Sounds like a really nice car in great shape, but the market is what it is.

On the other hand, you never know, there might be someone out there just dying for a mint STR and is willing to pony up.
