Time to sell my modded STR - what value should I expect?
Hey guys, its been a while since I have been on the message boards. I decided to finally sell my 2003 STR and was wondering what I should expect to get for it? It has 98k miles and clean title and no liens. Its not perfect but good for an 11 year old car, as it has a dent in rear bumper from backing into a pole, and the splash guard underneath the front got stuck on a parking block and pulled out (you can't tell unless you look underneath the car). The front passenger side Forgestar wheel has a small bend in it but it holds air perfectly well and doesn't seem to affect the car. Its got a lot of expensive modifications done to it that you can read about here...

And it sounds like a beast (see YouTube dyno video)...
There seems to be no consistency on the value of these cars and prices range so much I can't make sense of it. I just want to get out of it and into something bigger to haul my kids around in. Any advice on what to expect for it would be appreciated, I know its not worth much so I can take the bad news lol.
Also, if anyone has a 4x4 truck with back seats or an SUV they want to trade for it, please message me or email me at sonictooth33@hotmail.com. The STR just doesn't have back seats big enough to haul my kids around and all their soccer equipment. Thank you in advance and I will surely miss the Jag when its gone.

I'd say $8K to $10K
Here is why.
Almost 100K miles. The mods you have made really don't add to the value, but could help to sell the car faster.
If you had and engine rebuild or trans rebuild so that it increases the probability that the car could reliably get more than another 40K miles before you have to do a major service, then I'd say you might get up to $12K for it.
Or if there is good maintenance history for the car, and wear items have been replaced, such as suspension bushings, hub bearings, shocks, and the rack and pinion isn't leaking, coolant Hoses replaced, then perhaps a knowledgeable forum member might pay more.
Good luck selling it and sorry to see another STR change hands.

Car looks/presents itself wheel in photos / ad.
I would start with a 14k asking price, hyping up the car.
Prepared to slide down as low as 10k.
See what sort of offers and interest you get, and go from there...

I sold mine on the stock wheels with stock mufflers and stock intake with 58k miles and in excellent condition for $11.5k a couple weeks ago. KBB and NADA value the car around $10-10.5k for my mileage. I consider myself lucky as I never even listed the car for sale; I had mentioned to my dad I was considering selling it, and one of his co-workers bought it a short while later. I've been seeing them on ebay for mid teens, and also listed locally for under $10k. As GT42R said, start high and negotiate. I was planning on listing mine for ~$14k and seeing what offers I got, but I was fine with the end result.

nice car if you were in the Toronto area I would buy it, I have an offer in for a 2005 black str in the Toronto area for 11K car has 107km on it and I think that is high as it has had two minor accidents and I can see the windshield is not original, not made by Pilkington and not heated. str's are rare in Canada and only come up for sale so often
I would think you will sell for 10K 12 I would jump at it, the one I am looking at has been sitting for 3 months without a sniff, other than my offer

Thank you all so much for the responses. Over the weekend my check engine light came on and I do not have the time or desire to get it fixed as I plan on selling the car. In light of that, I am going to list it for $6,500.00 and see what I can get for it. Its comical how little value these cars have and how great the "bang for the buck" is lol. Oh well, at least I wasn't' the original owner that paid $66k for it haha. I will be putting a posting up in the classifieds today. I will miss the car deeply and I know my next one will not be anywhere near as fun but I just need the extra space! The back seats on the STR are adequate at best.
