Trunk button won't work

I have a 2000 S-Type...The button on the trunk, and also the interior button to open the trunk will not work...I have to use the key to open the trunk...could this possibly be a fuse problem? Thanks Dena

i would guess at the Valet switch is pressed.... in the glove ,shoud be pushed out.. if pushed in the interior and outer buttons for the trunk will not work.

As for the X-type do you mean there is no button on the inside or the outside?

O M G! Thanks so much Jag Genius...I feel like an idiot.Can't believe I dealt with that so long...I knew I had a valet key, but was not aware of the button in the glove box, it must have gotten pushed inadvertantly...Thanks again!!

Inside...only options for opening the trunk for us is pushing the button on the boot lid itself or the remote...sounds like you guys have a release button inside your s-types right?
