Hey all,
On 2001 S my windscreen vent is shattered in many places and I have removed it for replacement. OH oH?? Any ideas?? I am having trouble sourcing. Am even considering fabbing one up from thin ply and staining and varnishing it to match the walnut trim panels.
Cheers,- Steve.
I have seen posts where people have used the equivalent part from a Lincoln LS to replace the demister panel on the '99-2002, X200 S-type. It might be worth looking into...
When mine broke on my old 2005 STR I found all the used ones were is as bad or worse shape. Just time and plastic. A fatal combination for sure.
I bit the bullet and ordered a new one but it was $300+ or so. People have glued and patched them back together so if all the parts are there that might be of help?
Now this is kind of a hack job BUT I have seen people put dash covers of carpet in that area with cut outs for the defroster ducts?

Thanks buddy
Having scoured the earth with no luck,I have reached that exact place. Am now gluing the jigsaw back and will glue over some matt black vinyl and cut out vent area.
Cheers, Steve
Good find but I would be cautious as it's a used part with all those years on it. Mine definitely broke in more pieces when I removed it from the car to try and repair it. In the end that's why I went new as this was 8-9 years ago and my 2005 was newer at that time and worth more money. So I spent the money. I will say I had the car for another couple of years and the new part was still good when I sold it.

The demister was just another manufacturing disaster. This issue is thickness, material, and design. I replaced mine with a LIncoln LS vent. You have to do some very minor mods to fit it correctly, but it is so much better than the Jag part.
