Default V8 woes

Hello, This is my first time posting here i really hope you can help, I have a S Type V8 4.0 Petrol and its not going so well, Car runs really good from cold but when its warm i lose power around 40-50 mph and then i get the amber flashing light, All plugs have been changed, I have checked the coils and replaced the fuel filter, I have had a scanner on it and it shows 0 codes, Not sure if this helps but i have noticed a burning rubber smell too, Smells like its coming from the back but i could be wrong, Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Sounds like it's in limp home mode.
What code reader are you using?
Anything that puts the engine check light on should give a code.
You can get a good ELM reader and software for very little money that will give you all the codes needed for proper diagnostics.

Flashing MIL = severe misfires, doing catalyst damage.

Do not drive it unless you fancy changing cat(s)!!

Figure out the misfire cause urgently and fix it.

I would love to put loads of money into the car but its already cost me double what i paid for it, The flashing lights do stop when i reduce speed and do not stay illuminated (I dont drive it anymore), I just have no idea what it is, Sparks are new, Fuel filter is new, Checked coils they seem ok, Im at a loss

You need a better/different code reader.

+1

And then check for codes then fuel trims.

It's likely to be coils and/or an air leak.

Being a 4.0 you may have a FAR bigger problem - it will need updated (timing) chain tensioners and related parts or sooner or later will trash the engine.
