Default Vertical Link

I failed state inspection because of the vertical link on the right side. What is this - the ball joint?

For anyone else wondering - they are pressed in and can be purchased off of ebay.

I was about to go with the separate ball joints as well, but couldn't find anyone around to press them in. I was told the best thing to do was just go a head and buy the entire steering knuckle or vertical link. I replaced both sides to be safe. Good luck with your fix.

I got 2 of 'em from ebay for $119 shipped. I have a mechanic that will do them for $140 per side.
I saw the part, new, from the parts guy at the dealer and to be quite honest, I don't see, aside from
getting more money from ya, why they don't sell the ball joint separate. It's a pressed ball joint.....
nothing special. Unless the thing is cracked or something, it shouldn't need to be replaced.

Thanks for the luck - the way things have been I'll take it

I agree about them squeezing the extra money from you. The ***********s over charge quite a bit for parts. I bought my vertical links off ebay as well from a Jag/ British auto distributor. If I remember correctly I paid just under $300 for both sides and another $200 for the install.

This was much better than the dealership offered. It was nearly $800 just for the vertical links without installation! I buy all my parts from the distributor now. I've saved well over thousand dollars in parts buying them straight from the distributor, cutting out the two extra middle men(the dealer and the independent shops).

To be quite honest here, there was nothing wrong with my vertical link, alignment or rear brakes (reasons given by the dealer for failed inspection). The place that I've taken my all my cars to for over 20 years can do the job and get the parts, probably Federated-Mogul. I find them trust worthy (obviously) and trust them over the dealer that tried to dick me over on something that wasn't needed.
