Default Visit at dealership today

Weird one.Went to parts department to ask some prices. One of was about serpentine belt, well he said you need tensioner, idler pulley and belt (of course) but I cannot quote you for that as there is a problem.Aparently they have one R type at workshop at the moment fitted with that kit.Idler pulley doesn't fit??It is there for 3 weeks now waiting for Jaguar tech dept. to deal with it???
I'm asking WTF?
Can someone explain what they are on about?
Cheers

If you do a search you will find the STR had a running change in that area. My 2005 STR was upgraded under factory warrantee.

There are two different systems. The old style is a single sided ribbed belt. The new upgraded setup uses a double sided ribbed belt. When changing from the old to the new it requires changing some idler pulleys to handle the extra grooves.

The upgrade was due to belt squeak complaints from customers.

You can still get the belts after-market without going through the idler pulley change.
