I have seen a few things that I am not sure why they do this on my S-Type. One is sometimes when I get in my car the A/C is already running. I assume it just turns on when I unlock my car and it's hot outside. Has anyone seen this or is there something wrong with mine?

Also I have an issue where when my girlfriend sits in the passenger side a lot of times my air bag light comes on. I am not sure if it is because she is a smaller girl, about 5'2 110 pounds.

Any answers?

Yes, but only sometimes. It's not so much the A/C as it is the fan for the A/C. In otherwards it's not really blowing out cold air. I have had it happen to me about 3 different times in the last 3 months I have had the car.

 

the airbag thing happens to me all the time as well. G/f is about the same weight as yours and they told me at moore jaguar that 125lbs was the rating for the light. It says distinctly in the manual it is like 50 or 75 (sorry i dont have my manual handy). Then i found a senory broke off the bottom of my seat so who knows.

 

The weight sensor will activate the lamp under 50lbs or if you lean forward while in the seat. Occupancy sensors pick it up. If light comes on when she just sitting there normally, more than likely the weight sensing kit needs replaced.

The fan running on S-Types is normal. Most people never hear it as only runs at random interval.

 

hmm...that sucks they didnt replace my sensor under warranty[:@]I even brought her with to show them and they said it was normal![:@]

 

So even though they say it's normal does that mean the air bag will not deploy when the light is on?

 

from my understanding, they will not deploy as long as that light is on. I would think that i could take my receipt of service over and tell them that its a safety hazard since it says no problem found after i complained about it. Oh well, someone will be in deep **** if i get in an accident and it doesnt go off considering i had it in there 3 times for it.

 

If the passenger airbag lamp is illuminated, passenger airbag is disabled. Doesnt affect drivers side.
I would definitly take it back whether you are out of warranty or not. You complained about it under warranty and they did nothing. It is most certainly not normal. As stated above, play the liability card. If you crash and passenger airbag doesnt deploy, jaguar cars and the dealer may both be liable. Get it fixed.

 

yes my str does the same with my g/f but only when she leans forward, those passenger sensors do their job.but on the note of wierd things, my rear defrost is on when i start the car randomly, doesnt seem to be a temp thing it canhappen at 50 deg. or 12 deg. and my controls are always on "auto" not that its a real concern but strange to see when its well above freezing on a sunny morning

 

Below 50 degrees F it the defrost will come on for I believe 5 minutes automatically. Is normal.......and random.
