Anyone seen anything like this. My '03 v6 started to develop what I thought was the dreaded lurch. No codes, no 'Restricted Performance' just an occasional hesitation in the otherwise smooth running. Whilst looking for a cause I found out that just touching the baseplate of the MAF would stall the engine! WTF!!!


Cleaning did nothing, so new MAF on its way! (Cheap eBay Denso unit!)


Whilst looking into the local supply of MAF I found the cost differential outrageous. The identical Denso version, costing me about $50 on line was priced at:


$100 Jag breaker (2nd hand part)
$240 Supercheap Auto
$334 Toyota
$350 Jaguar
$460 Repco
$660 Volvo
$740 Mazda
$850 Mitsubishi


That has to be the most ridiculous mark up I've ever seen.

 

I'd watch the fuel trims to see if really it's an air leak and tapping affected the size of leak.

 

Well a new, $48 MAF has fixed the problem... She purrs like a kitten on idle and roars like a big cat when I floor the loud pedal. No lurch, no hesitation.... Happy days

 

Bargain!
