Daniel,
Are you referring to me? Hard to tell because you quoted yourself, if so the link I provided gives informed advice on antifreeze selection rather than whaever colour floats your boat.
Personally I don't give damn what kind of antifreeze you put in your car, some others may be more discerning.
What do you like to use as reference for your advice? Automotive forums? Posts by Danielsatur? Give me a f*****g break!
I have refrained up to now from joining in the "Daniel bashing" but sadly Sir you are an ****!
Goodnight.

I'm new here and am bewildered by the controversy over this certain member. After posting some info on the 'fog lights' question, I got three PMs from this member that ummm ahhh, were 'unusual' in nature as well as being technically incorrect.

This thread has gone off the rails as well.

Why is this behaviour tolerated?

Exactly - the admins need to see them. At least JimC64 and h20boy are admins, I believe.

Oh - and there's a Contact Us link at the bottom of the web page, which I hope works

Don't despair Mikey. We feel your pain. I haven't been blessed by the PM thing. As the rest said, forward all of that to the admins listed. I am sure they will take care of it. Please be patient and have faith. This is a wonderful place, the best I've seen. All that is needed is a little weeding and the lawn will look great again.

Unlike other european makes and even Ford's volvo, Jag actually uses and calls out a common ford coolant spec which can help save quite a bit of $$$. You don't have to play the game of "I think the Porsche coolant for $75 gal is really the same as the $50 audi or $25 VW coolant." Just look for the compatible with ford WSS M97B44-D on the bottle. I just know the Prestone stuff is orange but can't say for sure all Dexcool is orange.

Regardless of color, many of the different coolants may mix safely but there are two types of incompatible coolants which will cause the coolant to turn into a gel.
I went to Advance Auto to get some coolant for my S recently. Prestone now has a new extended life premixed coolant that is compatible with any factory fill. I bought a jug, and, checked it on their website. They say it meets the Ford spec ok. When I opened the jug up - the stuff is pale green. I went ahead and added what I needed to bring the level back up. So far - no problems. Anybody else used this stuff?

John, at the fear of high jacking this thread and creating 3,4 or 10 pages of BS. I've got a "jug" of this here clear stuff here from some redneck friends and............I believe it came from some type of radiator.

Still get a kick out of your "jag story"!!

Old Engineer,

Cool, now we can mix coolant colors to a custom pallet! Not an issue, but just wanted to point out that ford has a few different spec's out there and they only differ by the last letter. The dexcool stuff should end with a -D. I think the wrong one is -A.

Wow this thread took on a different shape! To the OP - I took mine to the dealer and at around $200, I got a new reservoir/expansion tank, they drained the system and replaced the coolant (2 jugs) - listen...it is sometimes more cost efficient to have work done at the dealership and the peace of mind (warranty) if and when things go wrong due to their work.... and it takes the guesswork out! Just my $.02

I had a buddy in high school who used to slip a little bottle of "white lighting" on the school bus every morning. Anyway - back to coolant - I now have Prestone's Dexcool in the garage to top off the kitty's tank if she needs more. Glad you liked my "Jag Story"

Samy:

Use whatever color doesn't give you a rash on your hands when your wife makes you do the dishes.

I never heard of the correct coolant being clear. So, was it the wrong coolant? If it was and is the kind that reacts badly with the existing stuff you may write off the engine. Check the spec.... tell us what you put in as someone may know if it's OK.

Oh.... and see below!!

Default Cost of fluid from Jaguar

I was looking at topping off (for now) my coolant, total refill in summer. Jaguar states that they only sell it by the quart at $27 each (ouch!!!). Does that sound right? I'm in Atlanta and all three dealers are owned by the same company so I'm stuck locally by them. If it is less expensive, where?

I'm not sure that I want to chance aftermarket unless it is certain to meet Jags specs.

Mixing Green and orange(dexcool) is a no no, When mixed they will turn into jello and you will have a real repair bill on your hands. These era Jags take DEXCOOL. In a pinch you can use universal antifreeze which I believe has the corrosion inhibitors removed or greatly reduced. Any other advise here is wrong. PS DEXCOOL is available in any auto parts store for $10-15 a gallon.
