Default What are the Cylinder Numbers?

I have an 03 S Type R. How are the cylinders numbered? I have a misfire on cyl. 7 but I'm not sure which one that is. Thanks

If you're in USA/Canada, you have LHD car. L bank is #2, R bank #1. Bank 1 has cyls 1,3,5,7 working from front to rear of bank. So, 7 is nearest passenger. Look closely for oil/water as you remove the coil. Chances are it'll be the coil, depending a bit on your mileage - which is?

May as well have a look at the plug while you're there but they're iridium so don't look much like some plugs you may have seen. Usually good for about 100K miles.

Even if you find no oil/water, chances are it'll be the coil. They age with all that baking.

Buy jtis from ebay - about $10 and well worth it.

Thanks. I have the JTIS cd but I couldn't find any info about the cylinder numbers. I dropped my car off at the dealership today and they said that four coils needed to be replaced. They said the plugs too but they only have about 10k miles on them. The estimate was $700. Just ordered the coils for $200 and I'll install them myself.

There's a picture in the electrical diagram PDF and I think they're also listed in one of the engine or the like descriptions. They're also shown in the vehicle specs PDF.

If the plugs are the correct kind, 10K is nothing. If they're some other kind, good luck

Lots of threads here about plugs, coils & water/oil ingress. Have a read.

Make sure nothing you do leaves an air/vacuum leak.

If you're going to DIY, spend some of the savings on an OBD scanner. At least an elm327 if you've a PC (preferably a laptop).
