What Do You Like Most About Your S-Type??
There have been hundreds of posts about what annoys us about our cars, how about some positive thoughts.
What are your favorite features, characteristics, etc.?
I'll start with three of mine.
1. Love the feel of the wood steering wheel.
2. Great suspension - Soft ride but handles great too!
3. The grille - Respecting the tradition of the classic Jags in a modern version.

Only had it a bit under 5 years (of its 9) so may be rushing into an opinion.

Still the best bang-for-the-buck sedan I've ever purchased. Coming up on five years of very pleasurable ownership next month....

After waaaaay tooo many Jags in this lifetime, I/we find that both the S Types are awesome.
1) Reliability.
2) Ease of access, especially for me. NO large sill to drag the banged up leg over.
3) Ease of maintenance. After many V12's these are nearly "boring", haha.
4) Economy.
5) Power, V6 has heaps.
Still getting the comfort thing sorted. The X300 was/is soooooooo comfortable.
Street stance is a given, its a Jaguar, nuf said.

I have to agree with Jon89. I am not a Jaguar fan (Or I was NOT a Jaguar fan but am now!).
But I was interested in certain car models by many different manufacturers. So when I got the STR I was looking at Pontiac G8's, BMW M5's, Mercedes E55's, Ford SHO's, Dodge SRT's, Audi S and RS's, Cadillac V series cars. All are interesting cars!
But the market has tossed the S Type on the heap of unwanted cars because of it's styling. This gave me the opportunity to get a great deal on a 400HP luxury car that I just could not turn down!
Not sure I will stay with Jaguar as I now want an XFR and they are very rare so I don't think they sold too well when new.
Just so many choices!!

1) Classic styling that will look great 20 years from now
2) The super charger whine
3) Mid RPM power band that is blast on the freeway
4) Handling, very little body roll, rigid
5) The double takes from people
6) Interior stitching and proportions

I'm only a Jag newbie, but the car tends to draw complements. Not sure why styling was ever an issue with it... it's unique and different form the countless clones out there. Comfort and ride are great, low body roll, the 3.0 performs adequately for me, can't imagine what a STR would do. My wife said when I brought it home the best part was the grille
To me the best part is value, and it's nice to hear positive reviews on reliability here.

While i have the least powerful of the S-types - the 2.5 version - the engine is gloriously silky smooth and my passengers have always remarked on the lovely growl the engine makes under acceleration.
Having owned a 2002 X type and having driven a 2009 X type recently i can also confirm that the ride and handling of the S-type is streets ahead of the poor X-type.
When my ownership of the S-type comes to an end it is going to be difficult to find another car with the same level of comfort and charm.
i am hoping that the XF may do it for me and that it has reached my price point by the time that happens.

1) 300HP V8
2) 300HP V8
3) 300HP V8
4) Styling that gets noticed where ever I go
5) oh, ya, 300HP V8... ;-)
Had a "drag race" with a friend in his "warmed over" XJS 4L 5spd, it was sooo not close that I shut it down at about the 1/8 mi point. There was no need to totally humiliate him since he'd spent so much money.

1) Quietest car I have ever driven - no need to raise my voice to speak to other passengers;
2) Smooth ride even on choppy surfaces.
3) My love of driving has returned, now that I no longer arrive at my destination exhausted from the noise, rough ride and mediocre performance of other cars I've owned. I now find excuses to drive somewhere.
4) The car seems heavy, solid, well-built, road worthy - all of which inspires confidence (one of my friends tells me this every time he rides in it).
5) 3.0L V6 gets up and goes when I need it to.
6) Classic Jag look - exceptional paint, fit and finish.
I love my S-Type.

I love my S-Type.
I just returned from a 2,700 mile round trip in my 03 S-Type V6 -- great ride, very smooth.
Funny to hear that the feel of the wood steering wheel was #1 in the original post -- I too love that feel, in fact so much that I got a wood wheel for my XJ8 after driving the S-Type! Can't say that it's my #1, but it sure feels good!
I love the responsiveness and handling - very tight.

EVERYTHING from the interior/exterior...love the sound of the exhaust. I too love the steering wheel very nice, the smoothness, comfy for a man of my size 6'2" 250lbs...When I first seen the car I knew it was coming home with me haha =D....can't forget that 4.2L V8 as well !
What I like most about my S-type is the fact that it is mine.
I've had it for nine years out of its total of ten, from 18k to now 103k on the odometer. After researching the S-type, I determined that the 2003 model had the advantage over the previous years and I definitely wanted a V8.
(Test drove a 2001 4.0 and a 2002 3.0 with the sport package.)
The list about the great qualities of the S-type goes on and on as many others have already pointed out. Of course, the V8 engine is absolutely fantastic in the smooth delivery of power. I love the linear and very direct, confident feel of the steering.
