What non CAT (electronic) strut to use?

What non CAT (electronic) strut to use?
Due to cost of replacement and to avoid too stiff a ride with H&R Sport lowering springs, I'm considering replacing worn CAT (electronic and $375/each) 03 STR struts with conventional struts (much less money and won't tighten/stiffen-up under acceleration). Any ideas?
