I've been having the weirdest thing happen recently. I'm constantly having to readjust my passenger side mirror down. When I unlock the car, the mirror moves up. Anyone ever hear of this or have any ideas on what's causing this? It just started recently and has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

thanks!

No but it does sound like a malfunction of a feature that I wish my car did have which is to lower the mirrors when I backup so that I can better see the curb and wheels.

I've used the second position memory function for that.

As an initial repair attempt, I would pull, inspect, and either reseat or replace the appropriate mirror motor fuse. Then I would follow the mirror position reset process to give the settings a fresh start. Do these actions and let us know if anything changes....

Have you tried the other key fob?

You can program memory settings like the seat, mirrors, pedal and steering column positions. These are tied to a certain key fob. That way if two people regularly drive the car. When they hit the button on the key fob the cars memory functions will be set to that fobs programming.

By chance have you unhooked or changed the cars battery in the recent past?

It's just the automatic pre-set position feature for the passenger mirror. Set the mirror to your spec then press the passenger pre-set button on drivers door to lock-in the position. Of course, what I just wrote could be malarky and I'm p*^^(g in the wind?

It does sound like it's going to the memorised position. You can reset it.

I'm the only driver so I have my presets set for normal & for reversing i.e. the 2nd has the passenger mirror down to let me see the road edge. Minor nuisance to press the selector.

I like that idea and often wondered why Jaguar did not program that into the mirrors as standard??

Quite. My older and vastly cheaper Ford had it. I suspect Jag just did not think of it (and didn't copy the idea from other cars).
